    The department of English has been part of T.K.M.M College since its inception. Established in the year 1964,it upgraded into an undergraduate department in 1998. The facilities of the department include a language lab and a library. Our alumni is placed around the world holding important positions in academics, print and visual media.

    The department has seven permanent faculty member, Smt. P. Indira, HOD is a renowned poet, who has authored 8 books and secured several awards. She is a regular contributor to many reputed journals & magazines. Ms Indu Balachandran & Arun Ravi have presented papers in several national seminars and have also published papers in various journals. Mr Arun Ravi has also enrolled for research. Ms Indu Balachandran, Mr Arun Ravi and Ms Soumya VS have been selected t0 FIAIR Programme by Kerala Higher Education Council. Ms Sarsha T.S is a member of SCERT Textbook development Team and is also a translator. Ms Anjana Thambi has submitted her Phd. Ms Aswathu Mohon is a rank holder of the University of Kerala for the year 2012. Mr Kunji Chandu, guest lecturer in journalism has been working as Asst. Director in the film field for past several years.

    The department maintains a perfect balance of academic and extracurricular activities towards the pursit of excelence. The activities of the department include invited lectures and seminars. Renowned writers and scholars from differinet walks of life share their valuable time, knowledge and experience with the students and faculty of the department.

Our Guru

Sree Narayana Guru, one of the greatest revolutionary social reformers Kerala has ever produced, was born on August 20, 1856, in a humble cottage in Chempazhanthy, a village near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, as the son of Madan Asan and Kutty Amma. Madan Asan was a farmer as well as a teacher, with proficiency in Sanskrit, Astrology and Ayurveda, and his son, the little Nanu grew up listening to his narrations of the stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharatha to the local residents of the village.

Our Founder

T. K. Madhavan (1885-1930) was an Indian social reformer, journalist and revolutionary who was involved with the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP). He came from Kerala and led the struggle against untouchability which was known as Vaikom Satyagraha.
