    The department was started in the year 1964 with pre-degree course. In 1983 the department started B.Sc programmme and then got upgraded to post graduate department in 1990 with specialization in Computer Science. In the year 2008 the specialization got changed to Electronics. Prof. V Maheendran was the Head of the department at the time of upgradation to UG department and Prof. K Rajan was the Head during PG upgradation.

    The First batch had 10 PG students and now there are 13 students undergoing the course. In addition to these main courses we are offering a course in Energy Physics for the students of other streams and two complementary course for students of Chemistry and Mathematics main students. Our Alumni have achieved greater heights in their careers,from the first batch of undergraduate students Dr. Jayan P is now working as a senior scientist in NTPC. Dr. Ajimsha Scientist in RRCAT, Indore is our student from the first PG batch.

Our Guru

Sree Narayana Guru, one of the greatest revolutionary social reformers Kerala has ever produced, was born on August 20, 1856, in a humble cottage in Chempazhanthy, a village near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, as the son of Madan Asan and Kutty Amma. Madan Asan was a farmer as well as a teacher, with proficiency in Sanskrit, Astrology and Ayurveda, and his son, the little Nanu grew up listening to his narrations of the stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharatha to the local residents of the village.

Our Founder

T. K. Madhavan (1885-1930) was an Indian social reformer, journalist and revolutionary who was involved with the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP). He came from Kerala and led the struggle against untouchability which was known as Vaikom Satyagraha.
